In simple terms, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a technique that enables computers to mimic human behaviour. It can also be defined as a field of computer science dedicated to solving cognitive problems that are associated with human intelligence, such as learning, problem-solving, etc.
Machine Learning (ML) is a subset of AI techniques that use statistical methods (data calculation) to improve the experience of machines. It can be of two types:
- Supervised: It uses the training data that includes the desired output. For instance, if a machine learning model has been created to detect pictures of horses, it will become unresponsive when an image of any other animal is asked to recognise.
- Unsupervised: It uses the training data without the desired output.
Artificial intelligence techniques are not able to extract insights from data by automating and optimising processes. However, Artificial Intelligence Systems (AI) supported by Machine Learning (ML) can assist a company in filtering a substantial data to find the required information or to predict fraudulent Transactions. Amazon Prime Air in the US is another example that operates through AI. The drone delivers packages to customers and can stop obstacles such as vehicles, animals and electric wires.
