Maria Sharapova was born in Russia on 19 April 1987 and at the age of 4 hit her first tennis ball. She took her initial tennis lessons from veteran Russian coach Yuri Yutkin who was instantly impressed by her exceptional hand-eye coordination when he saw her game.
