Darren Sammy, the Caribbean cricketer, was conferred with the highest civilian award “Nishan-e-Pakistan” on 23 March 2020 by Pakistan. Further, it also extended honorary citizenship to him for his contribution to the return of international cricket to Pakistan after the massive terrorist attack on Srilanka’s cricket team in Lahore, Pakistan in 2009.
Pakistan Super League was started in 2016 and Sammy was part of it since its inception. He has been a member of Peshawar Zalmi team, and he is now the coach of the same team, Zalmi. The entire first edition was held in Dubai and Sharjah though it’s a Pakistan league since foreign players refused to play in Pakistan because of security concerns. Even the second edition in 2017 was held in the same venues outside Pakistan except the final. Upgrade to Basic Plan to unlock this content! This content is locked
